• orion is a tool developed by ion to collect much of the management information available in your server and forward it to ion for support. orion is "ion's Trouble Hunter." orion is a Linux program that collects FRU, DMI, sensor, PCI, System Event Log, drive state and RAID controller status and logs to present a complete picture of the state of your server. The ion support team uses this information to make sure that diagnosis is quick and effective so that the appropriate parts can be shipped and so that field technicians can be fully prepared for the actual repair that is needed. • scorpion takes the orion concept one step further. scorpion is a bootable USB Flash device that ships inside every ion server. Maybe your system runs Windows or BSD or some other operating system and cannot run orion directly. Maybe your system won't boot from its boot drive. scorpion boots Linux to run orion and collect the data which ion needs to support your systems as efficiently as possible. scorpion also includes firmware files and tools to allow a system to be set with its original BIOS and firmware after a serverboard replacement.
